Tiger Lily, 2024

Flowers from Walks began as a simple practice of noticing — a way to capture fleeting beauty found in ordinary places. Each painting was inspired by flowers seen on daily walks, transformed into bold, textural studies of color and light.

The series celebrates presence and curiosity: the act of slowing down enough to see what’s growing right beside you.

Tiger Lily

Tiger Lily is part of the Flowers from Walks series, painted after a summer walk where these bright orange blooms caught my eye. I wanted to capture their wild, sunlit energy — the way they bend and overlap, untamed and full of life. This piece is about noticing what grows quietly around us and giving those small moments their own space to bloom.

Uptown Lily

Uptown Lily is part of an ongoing series painted from flowers seen on everyday walks. This piece was inspired by a bloom spotted in Uptown, Minneapolis — a quiet reminder of how beauty appears unexpectedly in familiar places. The impasto texture and layered color evoke the immediacy of that moment, when sunlight, movement, and memory converge.
